New Phishing Scam

Latest PHISHING scams looks legit! Beware of this new online scam...

It works like this... Members receive an email that says something like the following:


Dear Blue Chip FCU Member,

We are glad to inform you that our credit union (bank) has a new security system. The new updated technology will ensure the security of your payments through the credit union (bank).

Hoping you understand that we are doing this for your own safety, we suggest you update your information to maintain an updated account.

... (There is a 'Sign-In' box here) ...

Thank you for using us!

Under NO circumstances should you enter your account information or password, or respond to this email in any way!

Phishing ALERT...

Recently multiple "Phishing" scams appearing to be from NCUA (National Credit Union Association) were emailed to the general public. (Some emails said National Credit Union Administration). This false email asked for the recipient to click a link to verify their account registration. It then proceeded to direct them to a false website and asked for their confidential credit union account number and PIN, threatening to block members accounts if they did not respond in the allotted time. The NCUA was alerted to this scam and the website was shut down. However, members should be aware that these types of fraudulent schemes have a habit of reappearing in a same or similar fashion.

Never give your Private Account Information and PIN number to anyone! Blue Chip FCU or it's affiliates will never ask for this information through email! And unless you know you are speaking to a credit union employee, do not discuss your account information with any person or organization whom you do not trust completely.For more information, including how you can report this crime, go to http://www.cybercrime.gov.
