Fall Prep Tips for the Budget Conscious

The leaves are turning, there is a crisp coolness in the air, and the smell of pumpkin spice abounds… fall has arrived! Every season brings fun, excitement and often times, new expenses. As always, BCFCU has you covered with great tips on how to prep for fall and NOT break the budget!

FREE Entertainment:

Football games, corn mazes and apple picking are some of our favorite past times. But if the budget doesn’t include pricey adventures, you can check out all of the FREE community events available in the fall! Many communities offer free events that include pumpkin painting and picking, hayrides, craft fairs and parades. Some of our favorite events include Pumpkinfest, held in Enola, The Flaming Foliage Festival held in Renovo, and the Burnham Fall Fest! We are very excited to be part of this year’s Burnham Fall Fest Activities! Be sure to visit our booth for a FREE children’s craft and lots of giveaways!

Decorating on a Dime:

Pumpkins, gourds and mums… oh my! Fall decorating can be fun, colorful and inexpensive! Some of our favorite places to find outdoor decorations include farmer’s markets and road stands! You can get your fill of inexpensive pumpkins, gourds and autumn flowers to make any front porch and welcoming scene. Discount grocery stores are another great place to look for autumn decorations! Check out Sharp shopper for deals on pumpkins and mums. Looking for indoor fall décor? The Target dollar section is our go-to for mantel décor, fun candles and seasonal pillows.

Tailgate Food Deals:

Fall is the time for fun tailgate parties! Hit the discount grocery stores first to make your tailgate a fun and inexpensive party! Sharp Shopper and Aldi’s are our favorite local discount grocery stores. The best part about seasonal shopping is that the local grocery stores are ready for you! Many of the seasonal/event foods are on sale! Once you have checked out the discount stores, be sure to find coupons and know the special deals/offers before hitting the local grocery store to complete your party shopping.
